A Pre-Civil War Mansion, Ten Minutes from Downtown Asheville
Built in 1847 by Colonel Daniel Reynolds, the Reynolds Mansion is one of fewer than ten pre-Civil War brick homes still standing in western North Carolina, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It sits at the foot of Reynolds Mountain with panoramic Blue Ridge views, over 3,000 square feet of porches, and 12 fireplaces.
The history is genuine. Senator Robert Rice Reynolds, Evelyn Walsh McLean, the Hope Diamond, and the small settlement that would become Asheville all run through this house.
But guests come back for the breakfast and the hosts. Innkeepers Paul and Mirlin Manshon bring more than three decades of luxury hospitality between them, and Paul is a classically trained chef who prepares a different four-course breakfast every morning of your stay. No buffet. No eggs on toast.
Downtown Asheville is ten minutes away, and Reynolds Village is at the foot of the drive. Come back at the end of the day to a fireplace, a porch, and quiet.
