Apple Crumb Bars from Inn at Amaris Farms
Ingredients
1 ½ C packed brown sugar
1 ½ C rolled oats
3 C AP flour
¾ tsp baking soda
1 ¼ C melted butter, divided
5 C peeled and thinly sliced apples
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
½ C sugar
3 TBSP cornstarch
1 C boiling cranberry juice
1 tsp vanilla
Directions
In a bowl, combine brown sugar, oats, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and 1 cup plus 2 TBSP butter. Reserve 2 cups for topping. Lightly pat remaining crumbs into a greased 9×13 pan. Arrange apples on top of crumbs and set aside.
In a sauce pan, combine sugar, cornstarch, juice, vanilla, and remaining butter. Bring to a boil and cook until thick. Spread onto apples. Sprinkle reserve crumbs on top.
Bake at 350 for 35-45 minutes or until top is lightly browned.
Makes a wonderful seasonal dessert option for our guests.
