Rocky’s Hot Chicken Shack

When you have to have bird, look no further than Rocky's Hot Chicken Shack! Their mouth-watering fried chicken is served “Nashville style.” All chicken dishes start out “Plain” and then you can decide how much spice you want. They have 7 different spice choices, including Honey, Mild, Hot, and Rocky’s Hot. You can choose from a diverse menu that includes salads, sandwiches, chicken pot pies, rotisserie chicken, and what piece of the fried chicken you want. Innkeeper’s recommendation: 3 wing plate or Rocky’s Way Chicken Sandwich.

Fresh Wood Fired Pizza

One of our favorite pizza places for take-out in town is definitely Fresh Wood Fired Pizza. And they truly live up to their name! This farm-to-table restaurant buys primarily from local farms, so you can be assured that the ingredients are fresh and seasonal. Fun fact: They even have a garden and grow their own basil, herbs, and many other vegetables. Their pizza style is based on the Italian Neapolitan tradition. With appetizers, salads, and sandwiches as well, you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. Innkeeper recommendation: The Tuscan salad, Amore sandwich, Baby Blue pizza, and Scarface pizza.

Luella’s

One of our absolute favorite parts of living in Asheville is the local BBQ scene. Our go-to spot that consistently impresses us with it’s high-quality cooked-from-scratch meals, is Luella's. Their menu is absolutely stacked and often we just can’t choose what to get right away. They have such excellent appetizers, loaded french fries and baked potatoes, salads, sandwiches, main dishes, ribs, sides, homemade sauces, and desserts, you’ll be running back for more. Innkeeper recommendation: The Cheese ‘N Comfort Fries, Chopped Pork BBQ, Fried Okra, and Banana Pudding.

Nine Mile

For a scrumptious taste of the Caribbean, there is the famous award-winning Nine Mile. The restaurant was voted best food by Asheville’s local paper, Mountain Express, for four years straight. Their salads, pasta dishes, rice dishes, specials, and desserts are simply out of this world. Our luxurious partner inn, Pinecrest Bed and Breakfast is just a short walk away from the best restaurant in Asheville! Innkeeper recommendation: The Island in the Sea, Jamaican Me Thirsty, and Nine Mile dishes.

Vinnie’s

Vinnie’s is one of our favorite spots to indulge in all of the Italian classics. You can order individually or family-style, depending on your take-out crew. The menu includes antipasto, salad, pasta, specials, pizzas, calzones, and desserts. Keep a look out for the different take-out specials depending on what day of the week it is, such as homemade lobster ravioli and ricotta gnocchi. Innkeeper recommendation: The Grilled Salmon Salad, Chicken Parmesan, White Pizza, and Fettuccine Alfredo.

Sunshine Sammies

With the weather warming up, Sunshine Sammies is a great place for a delicious sweet treat. Enjoy their handcrafted, small batch ice cream in creative seasonal and classic flavors. You can order in cups, pints or cookie sandwiches and eat at the comfort of an inviting front porch or one of the other shady spots in the yard of many of our B&Bs, such as Sweet Biscuit Inn. Sunshine Sammies has your ice cream available as take away from the truck, online ordering with curbside pick up, or delivery to your door. Innkeeper recommendation: Honey Lavender Latte and Blueberry Basil.

Papa’s Pizza

A take-out list wouldn’t be complete without more than one pizza recommendation! Another one of the best spots in town is Papa’s Pizza on New Leicester Highway. This family-owned business opened the same year as the beautiful Wildberry Lodge. All their pies are handmade and use local ingredients. They also offer more than just delicious pizzas - choose from scrumptious salads, pastas, gyros, subs, and steak burgers at Papa’s Pizza. Innkeeper recommendation: The Mediterranean Pizza, Meatball Parmesan Sub, and Lamb Gyro Platter.

Village Wayside

A husband and wife team created one of our favorite spots in town for delicious homemade American food: Village Wayside. They call themselves “Slightly Dysfunctional People Pleasers”. We can confirm that their dishes sufficiently please the senses in the form of salads, sandwiches, burgers, snacks, and various pub food favorites. They also have an extremely extensive gluten-free menu that could almost be a menu of its own! Innkeeper recommendation: The Super Food Salad, Depot Burger, and Beef Tips & Hummus.
